Khadeen Carrington & Stanton Kidd actief in NBA Summer League
Khadeen Carrington, onze Amerikaanse point guard van afgelopen seizoen, speelt momenteel voor Oklahoma City thunder in de NBA Summer League in Las Vegas.
"Khadeen Carrington didn’t give up on his NBA dream when he went overseas last year. He merely delayed it.
The former Seton Hall star from Brooklyn is getting another crack now. The 6-foot-4 Carrington will play for the Oklahoma City Thunder at the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas, which starts this week, hoping to do enough to earn an invite to training camp.
“He obviously has to play well in summer league, has to impress and take advantage of his opportunities,” his agent Adam Godes of 3Eye Sports said in a phone interview. “The way the roster is set up, he’s one of only three point guards on the roster. There should be an opportunity for him to impress.”
The Thunder summer league roster also includes Queens native Hamidou Diallo, a second-round pick a year ago. The other point guards on the roster are Devin Cannady of Princeton and Jawun Evans of Oklahoma State.
Carrington, a 1,000-point scorer in college, helped Seton Hall reach three straight NCAA Tournaments and win the Big East Tournament crown in 2015.
Carrington spent this past season in Belgium, playing for Limburg and averaging 14.8 points, 4.8 assists and 3.6 rebounds, after playing in summer league with the Pistons a year ago. He had a tryout with the NBA champion Raptors and Thunder, and earned a spot with Oklahoma City.
If Carrington doesn’t stick with the Thunder and there are no other NBA opportunities, he will head back overseas, and play in the top division of Germany’s BBL with MHP Riesen Ludwigsburg. He has a clause in his six-figure contract that let him out of it to play in the NBA, according to Godes."
Stanton Kidd, die in 2015-2016 voor de Limburgers uitkwa speelt ook in de NBA Summer League voor Utah Jazz.
"Former CSU basketball player Stanton Kidd was named to the Utah Jazz’s 15-man roster Thursday for its NBA Summer League minicamp. The team did not say how many of those players it would put on its roster for Summer League games July 1-3 in Salt Lake City and July 5-15.
Kidd, who has been playing professionally overseas the past four years, played for the Jazz last summer, averaging 10.8 points and 3.3 rebounds in six Summer League games.
The 6-foot-8, 215-pound forward spent the past two seasons in Turkey, playing for Darussafaka Tefken Istanbul, a team he helped lead to the 2018 EuroCup title. Kidd averaged 6.8 points and 3.0 rebounds a game for Darussafaka in 2018-19.
He previously spent one season apiece with Limburg United in Belgium and Tigers Tubingen in Germany.
Kidd played just one season at Colorado State University, earning honorable mention All-Mountain West honors in 2014-15, when he averaged 11.5 points, 5.0 rebounds and 1.8 assists a game after sitting out the previous season under NCAA transfer rules. CSU went 27-7 overall and 13-5 in the MW in Kidd’s lone season with the Rams, ending the year with a loss to South Dakota State in the first round of the National Invitation Tournament.
Kidd, who is from Baltimore, helped South Plains College in Texas win a national junior-college championship with a perfect 36-0 record as a sophomore in 2011-12 and earned All-Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference honors as a junior at North Carolina A&T, where he averaged 14.5 points and 6.8 rebounds a game."
